Solr is increasingly becoming a de facto search engine for Sitecore Implementations because of it’s performance, features, customizability and scalability. However, if Solr is not configured or used appropriately, applications sometimes notice performance problems.
Some of the Apache Solr versions are more highly recommended than others, based on features, known bugs, and security. (We don’t offer versions with known security issues.)
